She wants to carve herself to ribbons,

Leave her blood soaking into the poems,

Bleed out in the ocean,

Leave a crimson sunset behind,

She wants to dance until her glass feet crack,

Melt in the molten sun,

Sear in the moon’s harsh heat,

Scream for anyone,

Feel relief when no one comes,

And cry because she’s all alone

When she refuses to open her eyes.

From my newly published poetry book, Ebb Tide. I would really appreciate it if you would buy a copy…
